Website personalization is very simple. It’s the process of showing the visitor something different based upon something that we know about them. And this could be a number of things. It could be their geographical location, it could be how many website pages they visited in the past. It could be the device type that they’re using.

There are multiple different parameters that we could use. To show them something different based upon something that we know of them. Now, when you want to have more powerful website personalization, you would want to get your website visitor to self identify in a particular group. Or category and example of this is you would have someone visit your website and you would ask them either in some kind of sliding up element or right there on the homepage.

Ask them the question, what do you consider yourself? A good example of this is for me on my website, I can ask. What do you consider yourself? Do you consider yourself a web developer, a marketer, or do you consider yourself a web creator? That’s just trying to make a website for themselves. So if I get people on my site, self-identifying, then personalization really gets amped up where I now know a bit about you in this isn’t just your location or the device you’re using.

About you and what you’re looking for. And then I can custom tailor your website experience based on you self identifying what you consider yourself to be. Now let’s take a look at some of the tools that are available for WordPress to accomplish these things.
