How to Import and Export Widget Settings in WordPress

If you have a need to reuse widget settings from one WordPress installation to another there is a simple way to do so.

First thing you need to do is install and activate the Widget Settings Import/Export plugin.

Then go to Tools, Widget Settings Export and select the widgets you want to export and click Export Widget Settings button.

Your settings for your currently active widgets to “widget_data.json”.

To restore these widgets go to Tools. Widget Settings Import and click on the Select File button.

Import your JSON file, select the widgets you want to import, and click on the Import Widget Settings.
